a poem to share.....

Since I just blogged moments ago on the topic of mindfullness, I thought I'd follow up and share a lovely poem on the subject as well.  As my patients know, I always have a reading of the week - some sort of passage or poem to offer while they are resting with their needles - and this is the poem I shared with everyone last week.  I had just returned from a week long silent meditation retreat on Salt Spring Island and it was a heartfelt way to share what my experience was like (not all moments mind you, but I did have a few very sweet and tender ones like this).

A Taste of Mindfulness

Have you ever had the experience of stopping so completely,
of being in your body so completely,
of being in your life so completely,
that what you knew and what you didn’t know,
that what had been and what was yet to come,
and the way things are right now
no longer held even the slightest hint of anxiety or discord?
A moment of complete presence, beyond striving, beyond mere acceptance,
beyond the desire to escape or fix anything or plunge ahead,
a moment of pure being, no longer in time,
a moment of pure seeing, pure feeling,
a moment in which life simply is,
and that “isness” grabs you by all your senses,
all your memories, by your very genes,
by your loves, and welcomes you home.
