Is Sugar Toxic - Part 2.

If you read the New York Times this month, a controversial article entitled “Is Sugar Toxic?” by Gary Taubes may have caught your eye. Whether it delighted or enraged you, perhaps you can agree that at the very least it has ignited a thought-provoking dialogue in our society about the consumption of sugar. So, I present to you some food for thought. No really, here’s a recipe.

Ginger-mint Fruit Salad
½ cup Blueberries
½ cup Strawberries
½ cup Raspberries
Juice of one orange
1 tbsp orange zest
1 tsp grated fresh ginger
½ vanilla bean pod, scraped
Handful fresh mint, chopped

1. In a saucepan, pour juice of one orange, ginger, and seeds scraped from vanilla pod and simmer for 15 min on medium-low heat
2. Place berries in a bowl, pour cooled orange juice mixture over berries and toss.
3. Sprinkle chopped mint over berries and toss.
4. Serve with organic plain goat yoghurt, or sweeten the yoghurt with a few drops of stevia.

Fight cancer and metabolic syndrome with these tasty berries!
